Test to see if you can ping your database by using the tnsping command in Command Prompt (cmd.exe).<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image0021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image002\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image002_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image002\" width=\"554\" height=\"281\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you receive the message \u201cTNS-12541: TNS:no listener\u201d or anything similar, then your database listener is currently stopped.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image0041.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image004\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image004_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image004\" width=\"563\" height=\"284\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. To turn on your TNS Listener, go to the Control Panel \u2013&gt; Administrative Tools \u2013&gt; Services<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image006\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image006_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image006\" width=\"566\" height=\"428\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image008\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image008_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image008\" width=\"575\" height=\"256\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. Locate the TNS Listener associated with your database as shown here. Once you find it, click \u201cStart\u201d where it says \u201cStart the service\u201d. Notice how the word \u201cStarted\u201d isn\u2019t currently stated for the TNS Listener.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image010\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image010_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image010\" width=\"584\" height=\"284\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When the TNS Listener has started, you should see the screen below:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image0121.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image012\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image012_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image012\" width=\"587\" height=\"285\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. Test to see if you can ping your database again using tnsping inside Command Prompt.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image0141.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-left: 0px;padding-right: 0px;padding-top: 0px;border-width: 0px\" title=\"clip_image014\" src=\"https:\/\/pitss.org\/files\/2012\/07\/clip_image014_thumb1.jpg\" alt=\"clip_image014\" width=\"596\" height=\"300\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see above, we were able to successfully reach the database!<\/p>\n<p>5. You should now be able to log into PITSS.CON.
