Once extended support ends for Oracle Forms 11gR2, customers currently paying for extended support will no longer have access to the following support:

No new updates, security alerts, or critical patch updates

No new tax, legal, and regulatory updates

No upgrade scripts

No certification with any Oracle or third-party products

For an extra fee, Oracle also provides sustaining support for Oracle Forms 11gR2 for an indefinite time frame. This will include services such as technical support; access to the knowledge base in My Oracle Support (formerly called Metalink); major product and technology releases; and pre-existing updates, security alerts, fixes, patches, and upgrade scripts. However, sustaining support will not provide the following services:

New security patches and updates

Certification with any Oracle or third-party products

As there continues to be new security vulnerabilities being found every day, it is imperative for organizations to ensure that they continue to receive the latest patches. Now is the perfect time to consider upgrading to the latest version of Oracle Forms and Reports, version 12c, or perhaps even a complete modernization and transformation of your Oracle Forms application. Oracle Forms 12c is currently covered under premier support through August 2022 (as of March 2018) which contains full support benefits. With Oracle Forms 12c, you will gain the following benefits not available in 11g:

Support for using Java Web Start with Oracle Forms

Certified with Windows Server 2016

Certification with Java Development Kit (JDK) 8

Certification with Oracle Access Manager and Oracle Internet Directory 12c

Includes an optional feature, Forms Application Deployment Services (FADS), which allows you to package, deploy, and configure application deployments as well as check the status of each deployment and make changes to it.

More information is provided in https://pitss.org/us/2017/09/14/oracle-forms-reports-12-2-1-3-0-information/.

In regards to upgrading your Forms application from 11g to 12c, a recompilation of your application may be all that is required.
