In our test installations, we worked with Oracle WebLogic Server 12.2.1.3 using JDK 1.8.0_144 (this was the latest JDK available for download as of September 2017 when the test installs were performed). Based off the installation and configuration, we have noticed the following:

The general installation procedure for installing the latest patchset of Oracle Forms and Reports 12c has not changed from previous 12c releases.

A new RCU schema for WebLogic Services (<PREFIX>_WLS) is required in addition to the already required schemas for Common Infrastructure Services (STB), Oracle Platform Security Services (OPSS), Audit Services (IAU), Audit Services Append (IAU_APPEND), and Audit Services Viewer (IAU_VIEWER). If you are upgrading from an older 12c release, you will need to run RCU again to install the WebLogic Services schema.

New to Forms 12.2.1.3, there is an optional feature called Forms Application Deployment Services (FADS). FADS allows you to package, deploy, and configure application deployments easily using its web interface as well as check the status of each deployment and update/delete any existing applications. A standalone installation of Oracle SQL Developer is required to use this feature. Whether FADS will prove to be useful or just a "fad", the only way to find out is to try it out for yourself!

Unlike previous releases of Forms 12c, you will now be able to use JavaScript when launching Oracle Forms with Java Web Start and the Forms Standalone Launcher (FSAL). For this to work, you will need to download Jetty from Eclipse, sign the jar file with trusted code signing certificates, and deploy it in your Forms configuration.

Oracle Forms 12.2.1.3.0 is the first Oracle Forms release with support for both Oracle Access Management (OAM) 12c and Oracle Internet Directory (OID) 12c. OAM 11gR2 and OID 11g are still supported.

Similar to Forms and Reports 11g and older 12c releases, we still receive the “REP-52262: Diagnostic output is disabled” error when we try to run reports. In previous releases of Oracle Forms & Reports 11g, using the default setting in rwservlet.properties would allow anyone to access anything related to rwservlet such as getjobid, showjobs, showenv, etc. For some reason in 12c, the default settings act the same as using <webcommandaccess>L0</webcommandaccess> in the file. To fix this, we have to manually add the parameter <webcommandaccess>L2</webcommandaccess> into rwservlet.properties and restart WLS_REPORTS before we can view generated reports. NOTE: If this was fixed manually in an older 12c Forms release and you upgrade the domain to 12.2.1.3, you do not have to redo this. More information regarding this error and the solution may be found in our knowledge base article, "Running Reports in Forms/Reports 11.1.2.1 Generates REP-52262 with Default Settings."

IMPORTANT: Unlike previous Forms 12c releases, Forms 12.2.1.3.0 is NOT backwards compatible with previous Forms 12c releases. This means that if you save a form in Forms 12.2.1.3, it cannot be run in an older Forms 12c release such as 12.2.1.2. In addition, a form which was saved and compiled in Forms 12.2.1.2 or older will not be able to run in Forms 12.2.1.3 unless it is saved and compiled in Forms 12.2.1.3. This is because the new release contains new Required Support Files (RSFs) which change the behavior of Oracle Forms as well as the new features introduced in this version. As a result, if you plan to upgrade to the latest Forms 12c version, all your servers and clients must be upgraded around the same time to avoid any compatibility problems. For more information, please see Oracle Support Document ID 2256898.1.

Like earlier releases of Oracle Forms and Reports 12c (12.2.1.0 to 12.2.1.2), WebUtil for Forms 12.2.1.3 uses Jacob 1.18-M2. No changes to the Jacob DLLs are required.

ORACLE REPORTS DEPRECIATION

With the release of Oracle Forms and Reports 12.2.1.3.0, this will be the terminal release of Oracle Reports. As of the new release, Oracle Reports has now been depreciated. Please note that this does not mean that it is no longer supported as it will continue to be covered under Premier Support along with Oracle Forms 12c until October 2020. With the depreciation, no new features have been added to Oracle Reports and will not be added. Only critical bugs will be patched in Oracle Reports. All Oracle Reports files will continue to run normally in 12.2.1.3.0 as they have in previous 12c releases. However, as premier support is only available for three more years, now is the perfect time to start planning your Oracle Reports modernization and digital transformation. There are many technologies available for reporting. As Oracle has stated in the Oracle Reports statement of direction, Oracle advises to migrate from Oracle Reports to Oracle BI Publisher. Oracle Forms 12c is compatible and supported with Oracle BI Publisher. Our tool, PITSS.CON, is able to analyze your Oracle Reports to determine how much effort it will take to migrate your Oracle Reports to BI Publisher. Learn more how PITSS.CON can help you with your migration of Oracle Reports to BI Publisher as well as the other great features PITSS.CON can do for you.

Source: http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/12213/formsandreports/releasenotes-fnr/whats-new-this-release.htm#FRREL-GUID-C42AD398-3FAD-46CF-9AF4-D0C64008D5FD

[26,22,4,6,36,19,10
89,51,23,13,17,46,7,37,45,43,20,40,24
post-10114","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-development","category-forms","category-install-config","category-pitss-con","category-reports","category-unix-linux","category-windows","tag-12c","tag-aix","tag-forms","tag-installation-setup","tag-linux","tag-ohs","tag-pitss-con","tag-reports","tag-solaris","tag-unix-based","tag-upgrade","tag-weblogic","tag-windows
["GET
